| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-23) |
शक्नोतीहैव यः सोढुं प्राक्शरीरविमोक्षणात् ।कामक्रोधोद्भवं वेगं स युक्तः स सुखी नरः ॥ ५-२३॥ |
śaknotīhaiva yaḥ soḍhuṃ prākśarīravimokṣaṇāt । kāmakrodhodbhavaṃ vegaṃ sa yuktaḥ sa sukhī naraḥ ॥ 5-23॥ |
शक्नोती = saknoti (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *sak), he is able, he can.; ह = ha, here, here on earth.; एव = eva, indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; यः = yas (m. nom. sg.), who.; सोढुं = soḍhuṃ (infinitive *sah), to bear, to endure, to tolerate.; प्राक् = prāk (pranc, n. nom. sg.), before, previ-ously, former.; श्रीर = sarira, body, bodily frame.; विमोक्षणात् = vimoktṣaṇāt (m. abl. sg. verbal noun from vi*muc), from liberation, from release.(śarīravimokṣaṇāt, m. abl. sg., liberation from the body.); काम = kama (m.), desire, love, greed.; क्रोध = krodha (m.), anger, wrath.; उद्भवं = udbhavam (m. acc. sg.), origination.; वेगं = vegam (m. acc. sg.), agitation, impetus, shock, momentum, onset, orgasm.; स = sas (m. nom. sg.), he, this.; युक्तः = yuktas (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle *yuj), disciplined, fixed in Yoga, steadfast in Yoga.; स = sa (m. nom. sg.), he, this.; सुखी = sukhī (m. nom. sg.), happy, fortunate.; नरः = naras (m. nom. sg.), man. |
The person, who is capable of controlling the speed of desire and anger, even before he gives up his body, is a yogi in this world and he is the only happy person. ||5-23||
