| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-21) |
बाह्यस्पर्शेष्वसक्तात्मा विन्दत्यात्मनि यत्सुखम् ।स ब्रह्मयोगयुक्तात्मा सुखमक्षयमश्नुते ॥ ५-२१॥ |
bāhyasparśeṣvasaktātmā vindatyātmani yatsukham । sa brahmayogayuktātmā sukhamakṣayamaśnute ॥ 5-21॥ |
बाह्य = bāhya, outside, situated without.; स्पर्शे = sparś (m. loco pI. from *sprs), in touch-ings, in contacts.; असक्ता = asakta (p. pass. participle a .J safij) , un-attached, not clinging.; आत्मा = atma (m. nom. sg.), self, soul. (bahyasparSe/ivasaktatma, m. nom. sg. BY cpd., he whose self is unattached to exter-nal sensations.); विन्दति = vindati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *vid), he finds.; आत्मनि = ātmani (m. loco sg.), in the self.; यद = yad (n. acc. sg.), what, which, who.; सुखम् = sukham (n. acc. sg.), happiness, bliss.; स = sa (m. nom. sg.), he, this.; ब्रह्म = brahma (n.), Brahman.; योग = yoga (m.), Yoga.; युक्त = yukta (p. p ss. participle *yuj) , joined, united, yoked.; आत्मा = ātmani (m. nom. sg.), self. (brahmayogayuktatma, m. nom. sg. BY cpd., whose self is united in Yoga with Brahman.); सुखम = sukham (n. acc. sg.), happiness, bliss.; अक्षयम = akṣayama (n. acc. sg.), imperishable, inde-structible.; अश्नुते = aśnute (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid . *as) , he reaches, he attains. |
A person, who is not attracted to material objects and interests, attains in his self, the Supreme bliss of the Lord. And such a person having completely fixed himself with God enjoys eternal bliss of the Supreme. ||5-21||
