| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-13) |
सर्वकर्माणि मनसा संन्यस्यास्ते सुखं वशी ।नवद्वारे पुरे देही नैव कुर्वन्न कारयन् ॥ ५-१३॥ |
sarvakarmāṇi manasā saṃnyasyāste sukhaṃ vaśī । navadvāre pure dehī naiva kurvanna kārayan ॥ 5-13॥ |
सर्व = sarva, all.; कर्माणि = karmāṇi (n. acc. pl.), actions, deeds.; मनसा = manasa (n. inst. sg.), with the mind, by the mind.; संन्यस्य = saṃnyasya (gerund ni *as), renounc-ing, throwing down.; अस्ते = aste (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid . *as), he sits, it sits.; सुखं = sukham (adv.), happily, pleasantly.; वशी = vaśī (m. nom. sg.), having mastery, ruler, lord.; नव = nava, nine.; द्वारे = dvare (m. loco sg.), in the gate, inside the gate, within the gate. (navadvare, m. loco sg. BV cpd., whose gates are nine.); पुरे = pure (m. loco sg.), in the city.; देही = dehī (m. nom. sg.), the embodied one, the embodied soul, the atman.; न = na, not.; एैव = eva, at all, indeed (often used as a rhythmic filler).; कुर्वन् = kurvan (m. nom. sg. pr. act. participle *kr), acting, doing, making.; न = na, not, nor. kārayan (m. nom. sg. pr. causative act. par-ticiple *kr:), causing to act, causing action, causing deeds. |
A person who has control over his self, undoubtedly neither performs actions nor causes others to perform. Thus, situated in the bodily house having nine doors such a person forsakes all actions through the mind and gets situated in the Supreme bliss. ||5-13||
