हृषीकेशं तदा वाक्यमिदमाह महीपते। अर्जुन उवाच सेनयोरुभयोर्मध्ये रथंस्थापयमेऽच्युत॥१-२१॥

hṛṣīkeśaṁ tadā vākjamidamāha mahīpate । ardžuna uvāča senajorubhajormadhje rathaṁ sthāpaja meačjuta ॥1-21॥

हृ hr (f.), = bristling, erect.; केशं keśaṃ (m. acc. sg.), = hair. (hṛṣīkeśaṃ, Bristling Haired a common nickname for Krishna.); तदा tada, = then.; वाक्य vakyam (n. acc. sg.), = word, speech.; इदम idam (n. acc. sg.), = this.; अह aha (3rd sg. perf. act. .*ah),= he said.; मही mahi (f. nom. sg.), = the earth.; पते pate (m. voc. sg.), = Lord, Ruler, Master. (महीपते mahipate, m. voc. sg. TP cpd., Lord of the Earth.); सेनयो senayos (f. gen. dual), = of the two armies.; उभयो ubhayos (f. gen. dual), = of both.; मध्ये madhye (n. loco sg.), = in the middle, in the midst of.; रथं ratham (m. acc. sg.), = chariot.; स्थापय sthtipaya (2nd sg. causative imperative act..*sthti), cause to stand, cause to be situated. मे mie (gen. sg.), = of me.; ऽच्युत acyuta (m. voc. sg.), = not fallen, unchanging, imperishable, unshaken, firm, an epithet of Vishnu-Krishna.
