Bhagavadgíta,-ज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोगः jñānakarmasaṃnyāsay, (S.-1, Ch.-4, V.-40)

अज्ञश्चाश्रद्दधानश्च संशयात्मा विनश्यति । नायं लोकोऽस्ति न परो न सुखं संशयात्मनः ॥ ४-४०॥

ajñaścāśraddadhānaśca saṃśayātmā vinaśyati । nāyaṃ loko'sti na paro na sukhaṃ saṃśayātmanaḥ ॥ 4-40॥



अज्ञ = ajnas (m. nom. sg.), ignorant, unknowing.; 

 = ca, and.; 

श्रद्दधा = asraddadhanas (m. nom. sg.), not giving faith, without giving faith, not placing faith.; 

 = ca, and.; 

संशय = saṃśa (m. from sam *si), doubting, hesi-tating, lacking in resolution.; 

आत्मा = atma (m. nom. sg.), self. (संशयात्मा saṃśayātmā, nom. sg. BY cpd., he whose self doubts.); 

विनश्यति = vinaśyati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. vi *nas), he is lost, he is destroyed.; 

 = na, not.; 

आयम = ayam (m. nom. sg.), this.; 

लोक = lokas (m. nom. sg.), world.; 

ऽस्ति = asti (3rd sg. pr. indic . *as), it is, there is.; 

 = na, not.; 

परो = paro, beyond, distant, remote, former, later.; 

 = na, not, nor.; 

सुखं = sukham (n. nom. sg.), happiness, bliss, agree-ableness, comfort, pleasure, delight, joy.; 

संशय = samsaya (m. from sam .Jsi), doubting, hesi-tating.; 

आत्मनः = atmanas (m. gen. sg.), of the self, for the self. (संशयात्मनः saṃśayātmanaḥ, m. gen. sg. BY cpd., of the self of him who doubts, for him whose self is doubtful.)



A person having ignorance, disinterestedness, and have doubtful nature

definitely perishes. For the doubtful person, there is no peace, nor in this

world nor in the world beyond. For him everything is lost. ||4-40||
