| Bhagavadgíta,-ज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोगः jñānakarmasaṃnyāsay, (S.-1, Ch.-4, V.-33) |
श्रेयान्द्रव्यमयाद्यज्ञाज्ज्ञानयज्ञः परन्तप ।सर्वं कर्माखिलं पार्थ ज्ञाने परिसमाप्यते ॥ ४-३३॥ |
śreyāndravyamayādyajñājjñānayajñaḥ parantapa ।sarvaṃ karmākhilaṃ pārtha jñāne parisamāpyate ॥ 4-33॥ |
श्रेयान = śreyān (m. nom. sg. comparative), better,preferable.; दरव्यमयाद्य = dravyamayād (n. abl. sg.), than consisting of material possessions, than property, than material, than substance.; यज्ञा jñājjñā ( (m. abl. sg.), than sacrifice, than offering.; ज्ञान = jñāna (n.), knowledge, wisdom.; यज्ञान = yajñāna (m. nom. sg.), sacrifice, offering. (ज्ज्ञानयज्ञः jñānayajñaḥ, m. nom. sg. TPcpd., sacrifice of knowledge.); परन्तप = paramtapa (m. voc. sg.), Scorcher of the Foe, epithet of Arjuna and other warriors.; सर्वं = sarvam (n. nom. sg.), all.; कर्म = karma (n. nom. sg.), action.; अखिलं = akhilam (adv.), without a gap, completely, without exception.; पार्थ = pārtha (m. voc. sg.), Son of P!1ha, epithet of Arjuna.; ज्ञाने = jñāne (n. loco sg.), in knowledge, in wisdom.; परिसमाप्यते = parisamāpyate (3rd sg. pr. indie. passive pari sam *āp), it is fully comprehended, it is contained in, it is finished. |
O destroyer of enemies! Superior to any material sacrifice is the sacrifice in
form of knowledge, because, O Partha! All actions end up in knowledge
itself. ||4-33||
