Bhagavadgita,-अर्जुनविषादयोगः arjunaviṣādayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-1, V.-17)

काश्यश्च परमेष्वासः शिखण्डी च महारथः। धृष्टद्युम्नो विराटश्च सात्यकिश्चापराजितः॥१-१७॥

kāśjaśča parameṣvāsaḣ śikhaṇḍī ča mahārathaḣ । dhṛṣṭadjumno virāṭaśča sātjakiśčāparādžitaḣ ॥1-17॥



काश्य kāśyaś (m. nom. sg.), = the King of the Kasi, a tribe in a district identified with modern Benares.; ca, = and.; परम parama (m.), = supreme, highest.; एष्वासः eṣvāsaḥ (m. nom. sg. ishu, arrow; as a, hurler), = archer, bowman.(परमेष्वासः parama-i~vasas, m. nom. sg. KD cpd., best archer.); शिखण्डी śikhaṇḍī (m. nom. sg. of Sikhandin), a Pandava warrior, born as a girl and miracu- lously changed to a male, son of Drupada, and eventual killer of Bhlsma who would not fight with a woman. ; ca, = and.; महारथः mahārathaḥ (m. nom. sg.), = great warrior, (as a BV cpd.) he whose chariot is great. धृष्टद्युम्नो dhṛṣṭadyumno (m. nom. sg.), = Pandava warrior; son of Drupada and brother of Draupadi. विराट virāṭaś (m. nom. sg.), = Virata, warrior king of a particular district in India, with whom the Pandava princes took refuge during the thirteenth year of their exile.; ca, = and. सात्यक satyakis (m. nom. sg.), = Yuyudhiina, son of Satyaka and an ally of the Pandava.c;\avas. The name means "one whose nature is truth." ca, = and. अपराजितः āparājitaḥ (m. nom. sg.), = unconquered, invincible.



The King of Kashi, a great archer, Shikandi, the great chariot warrior, Dhristadyumna (son of Drupada), Virata, and invincible Satyaki. ||1-17||
