Bhagavadgita,-अर्जुनविषादयोगः arjunaviṣādayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-1, V.-12) |
तस्य सञजनयन्हर्षं कुरुवृद्धः पितामहः। सिंहनादं विनद्योच्चैः शङ्खं दध्मौ प्रतापवान्॥१-१२॥ |
tasja sañdžanajanharṣaṁ kuruvṛddhaḣ pitāmahaḣ । siṁhanādaṁ vinadjoččaiḣ śaṅkhaṁ dadhmau pratāpavān ॥1-12॥ |
तस्य tasya (m. gen. sg.), = of him, i.e. to him, to Duryodhana.; संजनय saṃjanayan (m. nom. sg. pr. act. participle caus. sam .*jan), = producing, bringing forth.; हर्षं harṣaṃ (m. acc. sg.), = joy, delight.; कुरु kuru (m.), = Kuru, member of the Kuru tribe.; वृद्धः vṛddhaḥ(m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle.*vrdh), = grown larger, aged.; पितामहः pitāmah (m. nom. sg.), = grandfather, lit."great father," descriptive of Bhisma. of Bhisma)~; ; सिंह simha (m.), = lion.; नादं nadam (m. acc. sg.), = loud sound, roar.; विनद् vinadya (gerund vi .*nad), = sounding forth, crying, bellowing. Then, to cheer him (Duryodhana), Bhishma, the grandsire of Kauravas blew his conch shell aloud like the roar of a lion. ||1-12||
