| Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-69) |
या निशा सर्वभूतानां तस्यां जागर्ति संयमी ।यस्यां जाग्रति भूतानि सा निशा पश्यतो मुनेः ॥२- ६९॥ |
yā niśā sarvabhūtānāṃ tasyāṃ jāgarti saṃyamī ।yasyāṃ jāgrati bhūtāni sā niśā paśyato muneḥ ॥2- 69॥ |
या ya (f. nom. sg.), = what, which.; निशा nisa (f. nom. sg.), = night.; सर्वभूतानां sarvabhutanam (n. gen. pl.), = of all beings.; तस्यां tasyam (f. loco sg.), = in it, in this.; जागर्ति jagarti (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *jagr), = he is wakeful, he is watchful.; संयमी samyami (m. nom. sg.), = the restrained one, the man of restraint.; यस्यां yasyam (f. loco sg.), = in what, in that which.; जाग्रति jagrati (3rd pI. pr. indic. act. *jagr), = they are wakeful, they are watchful.; भूतानि bhutani (n. nom. pl.), = beings, existences.; सा sa (f. nom. sg.), = this, that.; निशा nisa (f. nom. sg.), = night.; पश्यतो pasyatas (m. gen. sg. pro participle *pas), = of the seeing, of the perceiving.; मुनेः munes (m. gen. sg.), = of the sage, of the wise man.. |
What other living beings observe as night is the time of enlightenment for
the self-restrained; and the time of staying awake for all living beings is
night for such an introspective sage. ||2-69||
