| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-35) |
श्रीभगवानुवाच ।असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम् ।अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥ ६-३५॥ |
śrībhagavānuvāca । asaṃśayaṃ mahābāho mano durnigrahaṃ calam । abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate ॥ 6-35॥ |
असंशयं = asaṃśayaṃ (adv.), without doubt, doubtless.; महाबाहो = mahābāho (m. voc. sg.), 0 Mighty Armed One, epithet of Atjuna and other warriors.; मनो = mano (n. nom. sg.), mind.; दुर्निग्रहं = durnigrahaṃ (n. nom. sg. from dur ni *grah), difficult to restrain, hard to con-trol, hard to subdue.; चलम् = calam (n. nom. sg.), moving, unsteady, un-stable, restless.; अभ्यासेन = abhyāsena (m. inst. sg.), by practice, by per-formance.; तु = tu, but.; कौन्तेय = kaunteya (m. voc. sg.), Son of KuntI, epithet of Arjuna.; वैराग्येण = vairāgyeṇa (n. inst. sg.), by indifference, by disgust, by aversion to worldly objects.; च = ca, and.; गृह्यते = gṛhyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. passive *grah), it is restrained, it is gripped, it is subdued, it is controlled. |
O mighty armed! Undoubtedly, the mind is restless and is difficult to control. But, O son of Kunti! By constant practice and detachment it can be controlled. ||6-35||
