| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-8) |
ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः ।युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः ॥ ६-८॥ |
jñānavijñānatṛptātmā kūṭastho vijitendriyaḥ । yukta ityucyate yogī samaloṣṭāśmakāñcanaḥ ॥ 6-8॥ |
ज्ञान = jñān (n.), knowledge.; विज्ञान = vijñān (n.), discrimination, perception, un-derstanding.; तृप्त = tṛpt (p. pass. participle -Jt~p), satisfied, con-tent.; आत्मा = ātma (m. nom. sg.), self. (jñānavijñānatṛptātmā, m. nom. sg. BV cpd., he whose self is satisfied with knowl-edge and discrimination.); कूटस्थ = kūṭasth (m. nom. sg.), unchanging, stand-ing at the top, immovable.; विजित = vijita (p. pass. participle vi -Jji), conquered, subdued.; इन्द्रियः = indriyas (m. nom. sg.), sense, power. (vijitendriyaḥ, m. n. sg. BV cpd., one whose senses are subdued.); युक्त = yuktas (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle *yu}), disciplined, fixed in Yoga, steadfast.; इति = iti, thus.; उच्यते = ucyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. passive *vac), he is called, he is said to be.; योगी = yogi (m. nom. sg.), yogin.; सम = sama, the same, similar, equal.; लोष्ट = loṣṭ (m.), clod, lump of clay.; अश्म = asma (m.), stone.; कञ्चनः = kāñcanaḥ (m. nom. sg.), gold. (samaloṣṭāśmakāñcanaḥ, m. nom. sg. BV cpd., to whom a clod, a stone and gold are the same.) |
When one is self-content with Jnana and Vijnana, and whose condition is absolutely pure, whose senses are well subdued and controlled. Such a person interested only in the Lord sees everything as equal; whether it is sand, stone, or even gold. This is told about a self-realized soul. ||6-8||
