| Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-61) |
तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः ।वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥२- ६१॥ |
tāni sarvāṇi saṃyamya yukta āsīta matparaḥ ।vaśe hi yasyendriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā ॥2- 61॥ |
तानि tani (n. acc. pl.), = these.; सर्वाणि sarvani (n. acc. pl.), = all.; संयम्य samyamya (gerund sam *yam), = restraining, holding back.; युक्त yukta (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle *yuj), = disciplined, yoked, joined (usually refers to being steadfast in Yoga).; आसीत asita (3rd sg. opt. mid. *as), he should sit.; मत्परः matparah (m. nom. sg.), = me intent on, with me as highest object.; वशे vase (m. loc. sg.), = in control, in wish, in desire, in dominion.; हि hi, = surely, indeed, truly.; यस्य yasya (m. gen. sg.), = of whom.; इन्द्रियाणि indriyani (n. nom. pl.), = the senses, the powers.; तस्य tasya (m. gen. sg.), = of this, of him.; प्रज्ञा prajna (f. nom. sg.), = wisdom, understanding, discrimination.; प्रतिष्ठिता pratisthita (f. nom. sg. p. pass. participle prati *stha), standing firm, stabilized, steadfast, established. |
By controlling all the senses one must concentrate his mind on me. This is
because a person whose senses are fully controlled is said to have a stable
mind. ||2-61||
