कठोपनिषत्् (katha upanišad),-कठोपनिषत्् (valli VI), (S.-4, Ch.-6, V.-11) |
तां योगमिति मन्यन्ते स्थिरामिन्द्रियधारणाम् । अप्रमत्तस्तदा भवति योगो हि प्रभवाप्ययौ ॥ ११॥ |
tāṃ yogamiti manyante sthirāmindriyadhāraṇām । apramattastadā bhavati yogo hi prabhavāpyayau ॥ 11॥ |
tām = that state; sthirām indriya-dhāranam = the steady control of the 10 senses; iti = this; manyante = they consider; yogam = to be Yoga; bhavati = one becomes; apramattaḥ = undistracted; with careful concentration; tadā = then, at the time of yoga practice; yogaḥ hi prabhavā apyayau = expands and contracts, subject to growth and decay. |
This, the firm Control of the senses, is what is called yoga. One must then be vigilant; for yoga can be both beneficial and injurious.
