taṃ durdarśaṃ gūḍhamanupraviṣṭaṃ guhāhitaṃ gahvareṣṭhaṃ purāṇam । adhyātmayogādhigamena devaṃ matvā dhīro harṣaśokau jahāti ॥ 12॥ |
matvā = meditating on; taṁ = Him; that purāṇam = ancient, everlasting; devam = Deity/Self; durdarśaṁ = hard to perceive; gūḍham anupraviṣṭaṁ = deeply hidden; guhāhitaṁ = situated in the depth of the mind; gahvareṣṭham = existing in the midst of misery [in the body/mind complex which is the source of all suffering]; adhyātma-yogādhigamena = focussing of the mind upon the Ātman; dhīraḥ = the Intelligent person; jahāti = is freed from, abandons; harṣa-śokau = happiness and sorrow. |
The wise man who, by means of concentration on the Self, realises that ancient, effulgent One, who is hard to be seen, unmanifest, hidden and who dwells in the buddhi and rests in the body−he, indeed, leaves joy and sorrow far behind.
