क्रियायुक्तस्य सिद्धिः स्यादक्रियस्य कथं भवेत् ।
न शास्त्रपाठमात्रेण योगसिद्धिः प्रजायते ॥ १.६८ ॥ |
kriyāyuktasya siddhiḥ syādakriyasya kathaṃ bhavet ।
na śāstrapāṭhamātreṇa yogasiddhiḥ prajāyate ॥ 1.68 ॥ |
Kriyā: practice (activity)
Yuktasya: who is active (connected)
Siddhiḥ: Success, Perfection (Siddhi)
Syād: is allocated ( to be, as)
Akriyasya: inactivity (Akriya)
Kathaṁ: like (katham)
Bhavet: should (bhū)
Na: not (na)
Śāstra: teaching texts, writings (Shastra)
Pāṭha: reading, reciting (patha)
Mātreṇa: by mere (Matra)
Yoga: yoga
Siddhiḥ: success, perfection
Prajāyate: arises, is generated (pra + jan) || 68 ||

Success comes to the person who is submerged in the practice. Without practicing - just by reading books about yoga - it is impossible to achieve success in yoga.
