अभ्यस्यमानो नादोऽयं बाह्यं आवृणुते ध्वनिम् ।
पक्षाद्विक्षेपं अखिलं जित्वा योगी सुखी भवेत् ॥ ४.८३ ॥ |
abhyasyamāno nādo'yaṃ bāhyaṃ āvṛṇute dhvanim ।
pakṣādvikṣepaṃ akhilaṃ jitvā yogī sukhī bhavet ॥ 4.83 ॥ |
Abhyasyamānaḥ: (if in the meditation) belongs ("practiced") (abhi + as)
Nādaḥ: (inner unquenched) sound (nada)
Ayaṃ: this (Ayam)
Bāhyam: (the) outer (n, Bahya)
Āvṛṇute: (then) he covers (ā + vṛ)
Dhvanim: sound (e, "sound", Dhvani)
Pakṣāt: after 15 days, one month (Paksha)
Vikṣepam: scatteredness (Vikshepa)
Akhilaṃ: all (akhila)
Jitvā: (so) having overcome ("defeated") (ji)
Yogī: (the) yogin
Sukhī: happy, happy (sukhin)
Bhavet: becomes (bhū) || 83 ||

By practising with this nâda, all other external sounds are stopped. The yogî becomes happy by overcoming all distractions within five days.
