अथ महामुद्रा पादमूलेन वामेन योनिं सम्पीड्य दक्षिणाम् । प्रसारितं पदं कृत्वा कराभ्यां धारयेद्दृढम् ॥ ३.१० ॥

atha mahāmudrā pādamūlena vāmena yoniṃ sampīḍya dakṣiṇām । prasāritaṃ padaṃ kṛtvā karābhyāṃ dhārayeddṛḍham ॥ 3.10 ॥

Atha: now (follows, Atha) Mahā-mudrā: Maha Mudra (the "great seal") Pāda-mūlena: heel ("foot root", padamula) Vāmena: with the left (vama) Yoniṁ: (the) dam, (the) Perineum (Yoni) Sampīḍya: pressing (sam + pid) Dakṇiṇam: (the) right (Dakshina) Prasāritaṁ: stretched out (Prasarana) Padaṁ *: leg ("foot", pada) Kṛtvā: holding ("making," Krita) Karābhyāṁ *: with both hands (Kara) Dhārayet: hold (the right foot, Dharana) Dṛḍham: solid (dridha) || 10 ||


Pressing the Yoni (perineum) with the heel of the left foot, and stretching forth the right foot, grasp the right big toe with the thumb and index finger of the right hand.
