Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-42)

यामिमां पुष्पितां वाचं प्रवदन्त्यविपश्चितः । वेदवादरताः पार्थ नान्यदस्तीति वादिनः ॥२- ४२॥

jāmimāṁ puṣpitāṁ vāčaṁ pravadantjavipaśčitaḣ । vedavādaratāḣ pārtha nānjadastīti vādinaḣ ॥2- 42॥



याम yam (f. acc. sg.), = which.; इमां imam (f. acc. sg.), = this.; पुष्पितां puspitam (f. acc. sg.), = flowery.; वाचं vacam (f. acc. sg.), = word, speech, language, discourse.; प्रवदन्ति pravadanti (3rd pI. pr. indic. act. pra .*vad), they proclaim, they declare.; अविपश्चितः avipascitas (m. nom. pl.), = the ignorant ones. वेद veda (m.), the Veda.; वाद vada (m.), = word, quotation, doctrine.; रताः ratas (m. nom. pI. p. pass. participle .*ram), = delighted, delighting. (वेदवादरताः veda-vada-ratas, m. nom. pI. TP cpd., delighting in the letter of the Veda.); पार्थ partha (m. voc. sg.), = Son of Prthavi, epithet of Arjuna.;  na, = not.; अन्य anyat (n. nom. sg.), = anything, other, else.; अस्ती asti (3rd sg. pr. indic. ;*as), = there is, it is.; इति iti, = thus (used to close a quotation).; वादिनः vadinah (m. nom. pl.), = saying, declaring, holding doctrinally.



O Partha! Persons with many desires get attracted by the words of the Vedas

and think of heaven as the supreme goal. They claim that there is nothing

beyond heaven. In order to attain the sense gratified and opulent life, they

talk of many words that glorify the various fruitful activities. Such talks are

always flashy. ||2-42,43||
