Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-27)

जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च ।तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥२- २७॥

jātasya hi dhruvo mṛtyurdhruvaṃ janma mṛtasya ca ।tasmādaparihārye'rthe na tvaṃ śocitumarhasi ॥2- 27॥



जातस्य jatsaya (m. gen. sg.), = of the born.; हि hi, = indeed, truly.; ध्रुवो dhruvas (n. nom. sg.), = certain, safe, fixed.; मृत्यु mrtyus (m. nom. sg.), = death.; र्ध्रुवं dhruvam (n. nom. sg.), = certain, undoubted.; जन्म janma (n. nom. sg.), = birth.; मृतस्य mrtasya (m. gen. sg.), of the dead.;  ca, = and.; तस्माद tasmat (abJ. sg.), = from this, for this, therefore.; अपरिहार्ये apariharye (m. loc. sg. gerundive a pari.*hr), = in unavoidable, in inevitable.; ऽर्थे arthe (m. loc. sg.), = in purpose, in aim, in consequence.;  na, = not.; त्वं tvam (nom. sg.), = thou.; शोचितुम socitum (infinitive .*suc), to mourn, to lament.; अर्हसि arhasi (2nd sg. pr. indic. act . *arh), thou shouldst, thou art obliged, thou art able.



Because, one who dies has to take birth and one who takes birth has to die.

Therefore you should not grieve over such unavoidable matters. ||2-27||
