| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-44) |
पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः ।जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ॥ ६-४४॥ |
pūrvābhyāsena tenaiva hriyate hyavaśo'pi saḥ । jijñāsurapi yogasya śabdabrahmātivartate ॥ 6-44॥ |
पूर्वाभ्यासेन = pūrvābhyāsena (m. inst. sg. KD cpd.), by prior practice, by prior performance.; तेन = tena (m. inst. sg.), by it, by this.; एव = eva. indeed (used as a rhythmic filler).; ह्रियते = hriyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. passive *hr), he is carried on, he is conveyed, he is brought.; हि = hi, indeed, truly.; अवश = avasas (m. nom. sg.), without will. without wish, against will.; अपि = api. also, even.; सः = saḥ (m. nom. sg.), he, this.; जिज्ञासु = jijñāsu (m. nom. sg. from desiderative *jñā), desirous of knowing, exammmg, anxious to know, wishing to know.; अपि = api. even, also. योगस्य = yogasya (m. gen. sg.), of Yoga.; शब्द = sabda (m.), sound, word.; ब्रह्म = brahma (n. acc. sg.), Brahman. (sabda-brahma, n. acc. sg. KD cpd., word-brahman.); अतिवर्तते = ativartate (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid. ati *vrt), he goes beyond, he transcends. |
The person who takes birth in an aristocratic family although involved in sense objects undoubtedly gets attracted towards the Lord by his former practice. Because, the seeker of yoga of equanimity also rejects the fruit of actions performed with some motive as told in the Vedas. ||6-44||
