| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-6) |
संन्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः । योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥ ५-६॥ |
saṃnyāsastu mahābāho duḥkhamāptumayogataḥ । yogayukto munirbrahma nacireṇādhigacchati ॥ 5-6॥ |
संन्यास samnjása (m. nom. sg.) = renunciation, throwing down; तु tu = indeed, but; महाबाहो mahábáhó (m. voc. sg.) = 0 Mighty Armed One, epithet of AIjuna and other warriors; दुःखमा duḥkhamá (n. nom. sg.) = difficult, painful.; आप्तुम áptum (infinitive *áp) = to attain, to obtain, to encounter; अयोगतः ajógataḥ (m. abl. sg.)= without jóga; योगयुक्तो jógajukto (m. nom. sg.) = Jóga jóked, Jóga disciplined, (as TP cpd.) disciplined in joga; मुनि muni (m. nom. sg.) = sage, wise man; र्ब्रह्म brahma (n. acc. sg.) = Brahman; नचिरेणा načiréṇá (adv.) = in no long time, quickly; अधिगच्छति adhigaččhati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. adhi .*gam) = he attains, he reaches. |
But O mighty armed! Without selfless action, it is difficult to attain renunciation and meditating on the Lord, the performer of selfless action quickly attains the Supreme Lord. ||5-6||
