| Bhagavadgíta,-कर्मयोगःः karmayoga 3, (S.-1, Ch.-3, V.-36) |
अर्जुन उवाच ।अथ केन प्रयुक्तोऽयं पापं चरति पूरुषः ।अनिच्छन्नपि वार्ष्णेय बलादिव नियोजितः ॥ ३-३६॥ |
arjuna uvāca ।atha kena prayukto'yaṃ pāpaṃ carati pūruṣaḥ ।anicchannapi vārṣṇeya balādiva niyojitaḥ ॥ 3-36॥ |
अर्जुन = arjunas (m. nom. sg.), Arjuna.; उवाच = uvaca (3rd sg. perf. act. *vac), he said, he spoke.; अथ = atha, then, in this case.; केन = kena (inst. sg. interrog.), by what?; प्रयुक्त = prayuktas (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle pra*yuj) , impelled, ordered, set in motion, caused.; ऽयं = ayam (m. nom. sg.), this.; पापं = papam (n. acc. sg.), evil, misfortune, harm.; चरति = carati (3rd sg. pro indic. act. *car), he moves, he acts, he commits.; पूरुषः = purusas (m. nom. sg.), man, spirit.; अनिच्छन = anicchan (m. nom. sg. pr. participle an *is), not wishing, unwilling, not desiring.; अपि = api, even, also.; वार्ष्णेय = varsneya (m. voc. sg.), Clansman of Vrsni, epithet of Krishna, refers to the race of theYadavas or Miidhavas. Vrsni was the name of a Yiidava dynasty to' 'which Krishna traced his lineage (this refers to the earthly Krishna, not the avatar of Vishnu which entered Krishna's body).; बलात = balat (n. abl. sg.), from force, from strength.; एव = iva, like, as if.; नियोजितः = niyojitas (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle causative ni *yuj), attached to, enjoined, commanded, urged. |
O Varshneya (Krishna)! Then how is it that a person performs sin although
he does not like to commit it, and who enforces him to do so? ||3-36||
