| Bhagavadgíta,-कर्मयोगःः karmayoga 3, (S.-1, Ch.-3, V.-3) |
श्रीभगवानुवाच ।लोकेऽस्मिन् द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ ।ज्ञानयोगेन साङ्ख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् ॥ ३-३॥ |
śrībhagavānuvāca ।loke'smin dvividhā niṣṭhā purā proktā mayānagha ।jñānayogena sāṅkhyānāṃ karmayogena yoginām ॥ 3-3॥ |
श्रीभगवान = sribhagavan (m. nom. sg.), the Blessed Lord, the Blessed One.; उवाच = uvaca (3rd sg. perfect act. *vac), he said, he spoke.; लोके = loke (m. loco sg.), in the world.; ऽस्मिन् = asmin (m. loco sg.), in this.; द्विविधा = dvividhii (f. nom. sg.), of two kinds, two- fold.; निष्ठा = nistha (f. nom. sg. from ni ../stha) , basis, steadfastness, attachment.; पुरा = pura (adv.), anciently, previously, in older times.; प्रोक्ता = prokta (f. nom. sg. p. pass. participle pra../vac), declared, proclaimed, taught.; मया = maya (inst. sg.), by me.; अनघ = anagha (m. voc. sg.), Blameless One, epithet of Arjuna.; ज्ञानयोगेन = jnanayogena (m. inst. sg.), by knowledge-Yoga, by the Yoga of knowledge. TP cpd.; साङ्ख्यानां = samkhyanam (m. gen. pl.), of the samkhya of the followers of the Samkhya doctrine.; कर्मयोगेन = karmayogena (m. inst. sg.), by action Yoga, by the Yoga of action. TP cpd.; योगिनाम् = yoginam (m. gen. pl.), of the Yogins, of the followers of Yoga. |
The Supreme Lord Sri Krishna said: O sinless Arjuna! In this world there
are two types of paths meant for self-realization. As I told before, one is the
path of knowledge for those who are meditative in nature and the other is the
path of action for those who perform various tasks. ||3-3||
