त्रैगुण्यविषया वेदा निस्त्रैगुण्यो भवार्जुन ।निर्द्वन्द्वो नित्यसत्त्वस्थो निर्योगक्षेम आत्मवान् ॥२- ४५॥ |
traiguṇyaviṣayā vedā nistraiguṇyo bhavārjuna ।nirdvandvo nityasattvastho niryogakṣema ātmavān ॥2- 45॥ |
त्रैगुण्य traiguṇya (n.), = three gnas, the triad of guna.; विषया visaya (m. nom. pl.), = territories, spheres of action, belonging to, category.; (त्रैगुण्यविषया traiguṇyaviṣayā, m. nom. pI. TP cpd., belonging to the three guna.); वेदा vedas (m. nom. pl.), = the Vedas.;निस्त्रैगुण्यो nistraigunya (m. nom. sg.), = without the three guna, without the triad of guna.; भवा bhava (2nd sg. imperative act. *bhu), = be! exist! become!; अर्जुन arjuna (m. voc. sg.), = Arjuna.; nirdvandvas (m. nom. sg.), = without the pairs of opposites (heat, cold; pain, pleasure, etc.), indifferent to the pairs of opposites, indifferent to the polarities.; नित्य nitya, (adv .), = eternal, eternally.; सत्त्व sattva (n.), = truth, reality, goodness.; आस्थ astha (suffix, m. nom. sg.), = fixed, standing, staying, abiding.; निर्योगक्षेम niryogakṣema (m. nom. sg.), = without thoughts of acquisition and conservation.; आत्मवान् atmavan (m. nom. sg.), = possessed of the self, full of the self. |
O Arjuna! All the Vedas are reflecting upon the three modes of material
nature. Do not get attached to them. Rise above the dualities in nature. Do
not aspire for the gain and safety from things. Instead become established in
the self. ||2-45||
