एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां शृणु ।बुद्ध्या युक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि ॥२- ३९॥ |
eṣā te'bhihitā sāṃkhye buddhiryoge tvimāṃ śṛṇu ।buddhyā yukto yayā pārtha karmabandhaṃ prahāsyasi ॥2- 39॥ |
एषा esa (f. nom. sg.), = this.; ते te (dat. sg.), = to thee.; ऽभिहिता abhihita (f. nom. sg. p. pass. participle abhi-*dha), = named, called, declared, spoken.; सांख्ये Samhkhye (m. loc. sg.), = in the sāṃkhye philosophy, among the followers of the sāṃkhya.; बुद्धि buddhis (f. nom. sg.), = insight, enlightenment, intelligence, mental determination.; र्योगे yoge (m. loco sg.), = in Yoga, in arduous practice.; तु tu, = but, however, indeed.; इमाम imam (f. acc. sg.), = this.; शृणु śṛṇu (2nd sg. imperative act. -*sru), = hear! learn!; बुद्ध्या buddhya (f. inst. sg.), = by insight, with insight.; युक्तो yuktas (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle -*yuj), = joined, disciplined, yoked.; यया yaya (f. inst. sg.), = by which.; पार्थ Partha (m. voc. sg.), = Son of Prthii, epithet of Arjuna referring to his mother Prtha or Kunti.; कर्म karma (n. sg., here untranslated), = the sum of one's gast actions by which one is bound in a future life.; बन्धंम bandham (m. acc. 8g.), = bondage. (karma-bandham, m. acc. sg. TP cpd., bondage of karma.); प्रहास्यसि prahasyasi (2nd sg. fut. act. pra -*ha), thou shalt leave, thou shalt abandon, thou shalt avoid. |
O Partha! I have so far told you the Sankhya yoga, which tells about the
identity of the Lord. Further I tell you the knowledge of yoga by which one
works without aspiring for the result. By the practice of this yoga you shall
very intelligently free yourself from the clutches of Karma (action). ||2-39||
