| Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-19) |
य एनं वेत्ति हन्तारं यश्चैनं मन्यते हतम् ।उभौ तौ न विजानीतो नायं हन्ति न हन्यते ॥२- १९॥ |
ya enaṃ vetti hantāraṃ yaścainaṃ manyate hatam ।ubhau tau na vijānīto nāyaṃ hanti na hanyate ॥2- 19॥ |
य ya (m. nom. sg.), = who.; एनं enam (m. acc. sg.), = this.; वेत्ति vetti (3rd sg. pro indie. act. .*vid), = he thinks, he knows, he imagines.; हन्तारं hantaram (m. acc. sg. derivative noun from *han), = slayer, killer.; यश् yas (m. nom. sg.), = who, which.; च ca, = and.; एैनं eoom (m. acc. sg.), = this.; मन्यते manyate (3rd sg. pro indic. mid . *man)= he thinks, he imagines.; हतम् hatam (m. acc. sg. p. pass. participle *han), slain, killed.; उभौ ubhau (m. nom. dual), both.; तौ tau (m. nom. dual), = they two.; न na, = not.; विजानीतो vijānīto (3rd dual pro indic. mid. vi .*jna), they two know, they two understand.; न na= not.; आयं ayam = (m. nom. sg.), this.; हन्ति hanti (3rd sg. pro indic. act. .*han), = he slays, he kills.; न na = not.; हन्यते hanyate (3rd sg. pro indie. pass . .*han), = he is slain, he is killed. |
Those who think that they can destroy the soul and those who think of it as
dead do not know the reality. The reality is: the soul neither dies nor can be
killed (destroyed). ||2-19||
