| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-43) |
तत्र तं बुद्धिसंयोगं लभते पौर्वदेहिकम् ।यतते च ततो भूयः संसिद्धौ कुरुनन्दन ॥ ६-४३॥ |
tatra taṃ buddhisaṃyogaṃ labhate paurvadehikam । yatate ca tato bhūyaḥ saṃsiddhau kurunandana ॥ 6-43॥ |
तत्र = tatra, there.; तम = tam (m. acc. sg.), it, him, this.; बुद्धिसंयोगं = buddhisaṃyogaṃ (m. acc. sg. TP cpd.), intelligence-accretion, accretion of knowl-edge, accretion of experience, joining to-gether of knowledge.; लभते = labhate (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid . *labh) , he receives, he obtains.; पौर्वदेहिकम् = paurvadehikam (m. acc. sg.), from a former body, from a previous birth, derived from a former incarnation.; यतते = yatate (3rd sg. pro indic. mid . *yat) , he strives, he makes effort.; च = ca, and.; ततो = tatas, from there, from thence.; भूयः = bhūyaḥ (adv.), again, once more.; संसिद्धौ = saṃsiddhau (f. loc. sg.), toward perfection, toward success.; कुरुनन्दन = kurunandana (m. voc. sg.), Descendant of Kuru, Joy of Kuru, epithet of Arjuna. |
O Son of Kuru! Such an unsuccessful yogi after attaining this birth regains all the former knowledge of his previous life and by the influence of which he tries to make further progress in order to attain perfection. ||6-43||
