| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-32) |
आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं पश्यति योऽर्जुन ।सुखं वा यदि वा दुःखं स योगी परमो मतः ॥ ६-३२॥ |
ātmaupamyena sarvatra samaṃ paśyati yo'rjuna । sukhaṃ vā yadi vā duḥkhaṃ sa yogī paramo mataḥ ॥ 6-32॥ |
आत्मा = ātma (m.), self, himself, oneself.; आउपम्येन = aupamyena (n. inst. sg.), by comparison, by resemblance, by analogy.; सर्वत्र = sarvatra (adv.), in all cases, everywhere.; समं = samam (m. acc. sg.), the same similarly.; पश्यति = paśyati (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *paś), he sees, he considers.; या = ya (m. nom. sg.), who.; अर्जुन = arjuna (m. voc. sg.), AIjuna.; सुखं = sukham* (n. acc. sg.), pleasure, happiness.; वा यदि = va yadi va, whether, or if.; दुःखं = duḥkhaṃ (n. acc. sg.), pain, misery.; स = sa (m. nom. sg.), he, this.; योगी = yogī (m. nom. sg.), yogin.; परम = parama (m. nom. sg.), highest, supreme.; मतः = mataḥ (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle *man), thought, thought to be |
O Arjuna! The yogi, who by his equanimity of mind treats everything as equal and also treats happiness and sorrow to be the same, is considered to be the most perfect one. ||6-32||
