| Bhagavadgíta,-6. ātmasaṃyamayogaḥ आत्मसंयमयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-10) |
योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः ।एकाकी यतचित्तात्मा निराशीरपरिग्रहः ॥ ६-१०॥ |
yogī yuñjīta satatamātmānaṃ rahasi sthitaḥ । ekākī yatacittātmā nirāśīraparigrahaḥ ॥ 6-10॥ |
योगी = yogī (m. nom. sg.), yogin.; युञ्जीत = yuñjīta (3rd sg. optative mid. *yuj) , he should concentrate, he should yoke him-self, he should discipline himself.; सततम = satatam (adv.), constantly.; आत्मानं = atmanam (m. acc. sg.), the self, to the self, on the self.; रहसि = rahasi (n. loco sg.), in solitude, alone.; स्थितः = sthitaḥ (m. nom. sg. p. pass. participle *stha), remaining, situated.; एकाकी = ekākī (m. nom. sg.), alone, solitary.; यत = yata (p. pass. participle *yam) , controlled, subdued.; चित्त = citta (n.), thought, mind.; आत्मा = atma (m. nom. sg.), self. (yata-citta-atma, m. nom. sg. KD cpd., with controlled thought and self.); निराशी = nirāśī (m. nom. sg.), without desires, with-out asking, without wish.; परिग्रहः = aparigrahaḥ (m. nom. sg.), destitute, nonac-cepting, without possessions. |
A yogi should always concentrate his mind on the Supreme self in a lonely place all by himself. Such a person will have certainly won over his mind, senses, and body and will be free from all desires and possessions ||6-10|
