| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-3) |
ज्ञेयः स नित्यसंन्यासी यो न द्वेष्टि न काङ्क्षति । निर्द्वन्द्वो हि महाबाहो सुखं बन्धात्प्रमुच्यते ॥ ५-३॥ |
jñeyaḥ sa nityasaṃnyāsī yo na dveṣṭi na kāṅkṣati । nirdvandvo hi mahābāho sukhaṃ bandhātpramucyate ॥ 5-3॥ |
ज्ञेयः = jñeyaḥ (m. nom. sg. gerundive .Jjiiii), to be known.; स = sa (m. nom. sg.), he, the.; नित्य = nitya, eternal perpetual.; संन्यासी = saṃnyāsī (m. nom. sg.), renouncer, one who throws down.; यो = yas (m. nom. sg.). who.; न = na, not.; द्वेष्टि = dveṣṭi (3rd sg. pro indic. act. *dviṣ), he hates.; न = na not, nor.; काङ्क्षति = kāṅkṣati (3rd sg. pro indic. act. kiiiiklf) , he desires, he covets.; निर्द्वन्द्वो = nirdvandvo (m. nom. sg.), indifferent to pairs of opposites (heat, cold, pleasure pain, etc.).; हि = hi, indeed, truly.; महाबाहो = mahābāho (m. voc. sg.), 0 Mighty Armed One, epithet of Atjuna and other warriors.; सुखं = sukhaṃ (adv.), easily, pleasantly.; बन्धात् = bandhāt (m. abl. sg.), from bondage.; परमुच्यते = pramucyate (3rd sg. pro indic. passive pra *muc), he is liberated, he is released. |
O mighty armed! A person who never hates or desires anything is said to be ‘ever renounced’, because staying away from the dualities of nature that person is happy and becomes free from all bondages. ||5-3||
