| Bhagavadgíta,-ज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोगः jñānakarmasaṃnyāsay, (S.-1, Ch.-4, V.-27) |
सर्वाणीन्द्रियकर्माणि प्राणकर्माणि चापरे । आत्मसंयमयोगाग्नौ जुह्वति ज्ञानदीपिते ॥ ४-२७॥ |
sarvāṇīndriyakarmāṇi prāṇakarmāṇi cāpare । ātmasaṃyamayogāgnau juhvati jñānadīpite ॥ 4-27॥ |
सर्वाणी = sarvāṇī (n. acc. pl.), all.; इन्द्रियकर्माणि = īndriyakarmāṇi (n. acc. pl.), sense actions, actions of the senses.; प्राण = prāṇa (m.), vital breath.; कर्माणि = karmāṇi (n. acc. pl.), actions.; च = ca, and.; आपरे = apare (m. nom. pl.), some, others.; आत्मसंयम = ātmasaṃyama, self restraint, self control.; योगाग्नौ = yogāgnau (m. loc. sg.), in Yoga fire. (आत्मसंयमयोगाग्नौ ātmasaṃyamayogāgnau, m. loc. sg. TP cpd., in the fire of the Yoga of self re-straint.); जुह्वति = juhvati (3rd pI. pr. indic. act. *hu), they offer, they sacrifice.; ज्ञान = jñāna (n.), knowledge.; दीपिते = dīpite (m. loe. sg. caus. p. pass. participle*dīp), in kindled. (ज्ञानदीपिते jjñānadīpite, m. loc. sg. TP cpd., kindled by knowledge.) |
Some others offer all the functions of their senses and the breathing action as
oblations into the Yogic fire of self-control, brightened by divine
knowledge. ||4-27||
