| Bhagavadgíta,-ज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोगः jñānakarmasaṃnyāsay, (S.-1, Ch.-4, V.-23) |
गतसङ्गस्य मुक्तस्य ज्ञानावस्थितचेतसः । यज्ञायाचरतः कर्म समग्रं प्रविलीयते ॥ ४-२३॥ |
gatasaṅgasya muktasya jñānāvasthitacetasaḥ । yajñāyācarataḥ karma samagraṃ pravilīyate ॥ 4-23॥ |
गत = gata (m. p. pass. participle ,*gam), gone. saiigasya (m. gen. sg.), of attachment, of clinging.; (गतसङ्गस्यgatasaiigasya, m. gen. sg., of the free from attachment, (as BY cpd.) of one from whom attachment is gone.); मुक्त = muktasya (m. gen. sg. p. pass. participle ,*muk), of the released, of the liberated one.; ज्ञान = jñāna (n.), knowledge.; अवस्थित = avasthita (p. pass. participle ava ,*stha), es-tablished, supported.; चेतसः = cetasas (n. gen. sg.), of thought, of mind. (jnaniivasthitacetasas, m gen. sg. BY cpd., of him whose thought is established in ;knowledge.); यज्ञ = yajñā (m. dat. sg.), to sacrifice, for sacri-fice; याचरतः = acarataḥ (m. nom. sg. pr. participle act. *car), undertaking, moving towards.; कर्म = karma (n. nom. sg.), action, ritual action.; समग्रं = samagram (adv.), wholly, together, in the aggregate.; प्रविलीयते = pravillyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. pass. pra vi,*til), is is melted away, it becomes dis-solved, it vanishes. |
All the actions of a person who is free from desires, whose mind is fixed in
knowledge, and who works for the sake of sacrifice are all merged
(dissolved). ||4-23||
