इन्द्रियाणि पराण्याहुरिन्द्रियेभ्यः परं मनः ।मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्यो बुद्धेः परतस्तु सः ॥ ३-४२॥

indriyāṇi parāṇyāhurindriyebhyaḥ paraṃ manaḥ ।manasastu parā buddhiryo buddheḥ paratastu saḥ ॥ 3-42॥

इन्द्रियाणि = indriyani (n. nom. pl.), senses.;

पराण् = parani (n. nom. pl.), high, elevated, impor-tant.;

अहु = ahus (3rd pI. perfect *ah, with present mean-ing), they say, they assert.;

इन्द्रियेभ्यः = indriyebhyas (n. abl. pl.), from the senses, than the senses.;

परं = param (n. nom. sg.), higher, superior.;

मनः = manas (n. acc. sg.), mind.;

मनस = manasas (n. abl. sg.), from the mind, than the mind.;

तु = tu, but, moreover, indeed.;

परा = para (f. nom. sg.), higher.;

बुद्धि = buddhis (f. nom. sg.), intelligence.;

य = yas (m. nom. sg.), who, which, what.;

बुद्धेः = buddhes (f. abl. sg.), from the intelligence, than the intelligence.;

परतस्त = paratas (adv.), higher, highest.;

तु = tu, but, indeed.;

सः = sas (m. nom. sg.), this.
