तत्त्ववित्तु महाबाहो गुणकर्मविभागयोः ।गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त इति मत्वा न सज्जते ॥ ३-२८॥

tattvavittu mahābāho guṇakarmavibhāgayoḥ ।guṇā guṇeṣu vartanta iti matvā na sajjate ॥ 3-28॥

तत्त्ववित = tattvavid (m. nom. sg.), truth-knowing, "that-ness knowing."; 

तु = tu, but.; 

महाबाहो = mahabaho (m. voc. sg.), 0 Mighty Armed, o Long Armed, epithet of Arjuna and other warriors.; 

गुण = guna (m.), guna.; 

कर्म = karma (n.), action .; 

विभागयोः = vibhagayos (m. gen. dual), in the two roles, in the two spheres, in the two shares. (guTJGkarmavibhiigayos. m. loc. gen. TP cpd., of the two roles of gUl).a and action.); 

गुणा= gunas (m. nom. pl.), gunas the guna.; 

गुणेषु = gunesu (m. loco pl.), in the gunas.; 

वर्तन्त = vartanta (samdhi for vartante, 3rd pI. pr. indic. vrt), they work, they act.; 

इति = iti. thus.; 

मत्वा = matva (gerund .Jman), thinking, having thought.; 

न = na, not.; 

सज्जते = sajjate (3rd sg. pr. indic. mid . .Jsaflj), he is attached.
