| Bhagavadgíta,-कर्मयोगःः karmayoga 3, (S.-1, Ch.-3, V.-14) |
अन्नाद्भवन्ति भूतानि पर्जन्यादन्नसम्भवः ।यज्ञाद्भवति पर्जन्यो यज्ञः कर्मसमुद्भवः ॥ ३-१४॥ |
annādbhavanti bhūtāni parjanyādannasambhavaḥ ।yajñādbhavati parjanyo yajñaḥ karmasamudbhavaḥ ॥ 3-14॥ |
अन्नात annat (n. abl. sg.), from food.; भवन्ति bhavanti (3rd pI. pro indic. act. *bhu), they exist, they are, they come to be.; भूतानि bhutani (n. nom. sg.), beings, living beings, existences.; पर्जन्यात parjanyat (m. abl. sg.), from the rain cloud, from the rain god.; अन्न anna (n.), food.; सम्भवः sambhavas (m. nom. sg.), origin, source. (annasGlhbhavas, m. nom. sg. BV cpd., of which food is the source.); यज्ञा yajna (m. abl. sg.), from sacrifice.; भवति bhavati (3rd sg. pro indic. act. *bhu), it, he, exists, it, he, comes to be.; पर्जन्यो parjanyas (m. nom. sg.), the rain cloud, the rain god.; यज्ञः yajna (m. nom. sg.), sacrifice, worship.; कर्म karma* (n.), action, doing, deeds.; समुद्भवः samudbhavas (m. nom. sg. from sam ud *bhu), origin, source, cause of being. (karmasamudbhavas, m. nom. sg. BV cpd., brought into being by action, whose origin is in action.) |
All living beings take birth from food. Whereas food is produced from the
rain and the rain is caused by yajna (sacrifice) and that sacrifice is born of
karma (action). ||3-14||
