दुःखेष्वनुद्विग्नमनाः सुखेषु विगतस्पृहः ।वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते ॥२- ५६॥ |
duḥkheṣvanudvignamanāḥ sukheṣu vigataspṛhaḥ ।vītarāgabhayakrodhaḥ sthitadhīrmunirucyate ॥2- 56॥ |
दुःखेष्व duḥkheṣv (n. loco pl.), = in misfortunes, in miseries, in unhappinesses.; अनुद्विग्न anudvigna (p. pass. participle an ud *vij), free from anxiety, not agitated, free from perplexity.; मनाः manah (m. nom. sg. ifc.), = mind, minded. (anudvignamanas, m. nom. sg. BY cpd., = whose mind is not agitated.); सुखेषु sukhesu (n. loco pl.), = in pleasures, in happinesses, in joys.; विगतस्पृहः vigatasprha (m. nom. sg.), = "gone away desire," (as BY cpd.) whose desire has disappeared, freed from desire, freed from greed.; वीत vita (p. pass. participle vi .*i), = departed, gone.; राग raga (m.), = passion.; भय bhaya (n.), = fear, danger.; क्रोधः krodhah (m. nom. sg.), = anger. (vitaragabhayakrodhas, m. nom. sg. BY cpd.,= whose passion, fear and anger have departed.); स्थितधी sthitadhis (f. nom. sg.), = steady of thought, steady in meditation, (as BY cpd.) whose meditation is steady.; मुनी munis (m. nom. sg.), = sage, wise man.; उच्यते ucyate (3rd sg. pr. indic. pass . *vac), = he is called, he is said to be, it is said. |
A person whose mind remains undisturbed in sorrows, and who does not
rejoice when there is happiness and is free from passion, fear, and anger.
Such a sage is said to be of stable wisdom (sthitaprajna). ||2-56||
