Atmabodha,-The Birth of the EGO, (S.-1, Ch.-6, V.-26) |
आत्मनो विक्रिया नास्ति बुद्धेर्बोधो न जात्विति ।
जीवः सर्वमलं ज्ञात्वा ज्ञाता द्रष्टेति मुह्यति ॥ २६॥ |
ātmano vikriyā nāsti buddherbodho na jātviti ।
jīvaḥ sarvamalaṃ jñātvā jñātā draṣṭeti muhyati ॥ 26॥ |
|
1 Aatmanah vikriyaa na asti: There is no action for the Self,
2 buddheh bodhah na jaatu iti; and the intellect itself has no capacity to know;
3 jeevah sarvamalam jnaatvaa Yet: the individuality, experiencing them, thinks
4 jnaataa drishtaa iti muhyati: “I am the knower and the seer”, and is thus deluded.
|
Atma never does anything. It is eternal.
It is knowledge itself and is not affected by
the mental thoughts and physical actions.
Buddhi or Intellect has no capacity to
experience "I know". But the individuality
(Jeeva) in us in its ignorance of its true nature
falsely identifies itself with the Body - Mind
and Intellect and thinks out of delusion that
himself is the see and the knower.
