१. सूत्रस्थानम् 1.sūtrasthānam,-Ritucharya adhyaya ऋतुचया, (S.-1, Ch.-3, V.-18-22)

कफश् चितो हि शिशिरे वसन्ते ऽर्कांशु-तापितः । हत्वाग्निं कुरुते रोगान् अतस् तं त्वरया त्यजेत् ॥ १८ ॥ तीक्ष्णैर् वमन-नस्याद्यैर् लघु-रूक्षैश् च भोजनैः । व्यायामोद्वर्तनाघातैर् जित्वा श्लेष्माणम् उल्बणम् ॥ १९ ॥ स्नातो ऽनुलिप्तः कर्पूर-चन्दनागुरु-कुङ्कुमैः । पुराण-यव-गोधूम-क्षौद्र-जाङ्गल-शूल्य-भुक् ॥ २० ॥ सहकार-रसोन्मिश्रान् आस्वाद्य प्रिययार्पितान् । प्रियास्य-सङ्ग-सुरभीन् प्रिया-नेत्रोत्पलाङ्कितान् ॥ २१ ॥ सौमनस्य-कृतो हृद्यान् वयस्यैः सहितः पिबेत् । निर्गदान् आसवारिष्ट-सीधु-मार्द्वीक-माधवान् ॥ २२ ॥ शृङ्गवेराम्बु साराम्बु मध्व्-अम्बु जलदाम्बु च ।

kaphaś cito hi śiśire vasante 'rkāṃśu-tāpitaḥ । hatvāgniṃ kurute rogān atas taṃ tvarayā tyajet ॥ 18 ॥ tīkṣṇair vamana-nasyādyair laghu-rūkṣaiś ca bhojanaiḥ । vyāyāmodvartanāghātair jitvā śleṣmāṇam ulbaṇam ॥ 19 ॥ snāto 'nuliptaḥ karpūra-candanāguru-kuṅkumaiḥ । purāṇa-yava-godhūma-kṣaudra-jāṅgala-śūlya-bhuk ॥ 20 ॥ sahakāra-rasonmiśrān āsvādya priyayārpitān । priyāsya-saṅga-surabhīn priyā-netrotpalāṅkitān ॥ 21 ॥ saumanasya-kṛto hṛdyān vayasyaiḥ sahitaḥ pibet । nirgadān āsavāriṣṭa-sīdhu-mārdvīka-mādhavān ॥ 22 ॥ śṛṅgaverāmbu sārāmbu madhv-ambu jaladāmbu ca ।

Kapha which has undergone increase in śiśira (cold season) becomes liquified by the heat of the sun in vasanta (spring), diminishes the agni (digestive power) and gives rise to many diseases. Hence to prevent such consequences, take immediate steps to conquer kapha dosa by means of śodhana and śamana therapies. Perform śodhana therapies like tíkśna vamana, nasya, dhúmapána etc. Advice to take food having laghu and rúksha gunas. Vyáyama(excercise), udvartana etc. should be conducted to mitigate vitiated kapha. After having bath besmeared with the pastes of karpúra, candana, aguru, kumkuma etc. Easily digestible food like old barley, wheat, honey, jángla mámsa (desert animals) roasted on fire is prescribed, which is suitable for this season. After having such diet healthy people are recommended to enjoy alcoholic preparations like mádvíka (prepared from grapes), ásava, arista, mádhava (prepared from honey), sídhu (prepared from sugar cane) in company of friends. To make it more hilarious and fascinating they are mixed with sweet mango juices. Beautiful women who sweeten these by the touch of their lips serve these wines. This increases their flavor and it is made more charming by the glances of their beautiful eyes resembling the petals of blue lotus. Those who are averse to wine or prohibited from using them can enjoy other beverages prepared by boiling ásava, musta, dry ginger or honey with water.
