Saucha vidhi - cleansing |
After waking up, one should take care about his body (if one does not feel well, he may stay in bed and rest). After that, saucha vidhi follows (bowel movement, urination etc.). |
Commentary The verse explains saucha vidhi which always follows waking up. Sauch means bowel movement and urination whcih is natural in healthy physiology, and vidhi means a procedure. The perfect health is implied by a continuous sleep without medicaments, as well as by evacuation, i.e. in the morning, after waking up, the collected urine and faeces automatically create the need to relieve the bowels and the bladder. This expression indicates a natural physiology. When one is ill, he has a disfunctional digestive or urinary tract and then such needs for morning evacuation do not show. When the urinary tract is out of order, one urinates at night which disturbs his sleep. When the digestive tract is out of order, one does not have the need for bowel movement after waking up. Naturally, the verse considers a healthy person with a certain eating and drinking habits and, above all, a balanced mind. If one has a mental disorder (i.e. discomfort, fear, anxiety, which sit deep into his heart and brain), the digestive and urinary tracts are unsettled. On the one hand, the verse advises us how to maintain health, and on the other hand implies the diagnostics of the physiology condition. |
