Commentary Nidán sthán (etiology of ailments)- knowledge of a disease, how it arises, what the initial symptoms are, and how the illness develops. This is where the student learns the principles of each sickness so they can be recognized later. Just like a mechanic first learns the principle of how a car functions, its engine, combustion, etc., and then learns what distinguishes the different brands of cars. Similarly, the student first learns the principles of each ailment and then the student the student can investigate them in more depth. |
