prathamāśabdāt || 2.2.34 ||

Arguments for the eternality of Sound


dvayoḥ—of both; tu—but; provrittyoḥ—of the activities or occupations; abhāvāt—from the non-existence or absence.

Verse: (Sound is eternal), because (otherwise) the occupations of both (the teacher and the pupil) will vanish out of existence.
