समाधिपाद,-1.Samādhi Pāda, (S.-0, Ch.-1, V.-18)

विरामप्रत्ययाभ्यासपूर्वः संस्कारशेषोऽन्यः ॥१८॥

virāma-pratyaya-abhyāsa-pūrvaḥ saṁskāra-śeṣo-'nyaḥ ॥18॥

virama = cessation, stopping, receding

pratyaya = cause, cognitive principle, content of mind, cognition

abhyasa = practice

purvah = preceding, coming before

samskara = deep impressions, imprints in the unconscious, deepest habits, subliminal activators, traces shesha = residual, subliminal

anyah = the other (the other samadhi)

There is another Samadhi which is attained by the constant practice of cessation of all mental activity, in which the Chitta retains only the unmanifested impressions.
