स्वात्मारामः
सशैलवनधात्रीणां यथाधारोऽहिनायकः । सर्वेषां योगतन्त्राणां तथाधारो हि कुण्डली ॥ ३.१ ॥ |
svātmārāmaḥ
saśailavanadhātrīṇāṃ yathādhāro'hināyakaḥ । sarveṣāṃ yogatantrāṇāṃ tathādhāro hi kuṇḍalī ॥ 3.1 ॥ |
Sa: their;
Śaila: hill or mountain;
Vana: forests;
Dhātrīṁāṁ: to hold;
Yathā: like, as;
Ādhāraḥ: resting on, base;
Ahi *: snakes;
Nāyakaḥ *: leader;
Sarveṁāṁ: all;
Yoga: union;
Tantrāṁāṁ: system;
Tathā: just like that;
Ādhāraḥ: basis, base;
Hi: sure;
Kuṇḍalī **: spiral, serpent || 1 ||

Just as the King of Snakes supports the Earth with all of its mountains and woods, so all the Tantras (yoga practices) rest on the Kundalinî (the vertebral column).
