| Bhagavadgíta,-साङ्ख्ययोगः sámkhjajóga, (S.-1, Ch.-2, V.-46) |
यावानर्थ उदपाने सर्वतः संप्लुतोदके ।तावान्सर्वेषु वेदेषु ब्राह्मणस्य विजानतः ॥२- ४६॥ |
yāvānartha udapāne sarvataḥ saṃplutodake ।tāvānsarveṣu vedeṣu brāhmaṇasya vijānataḥ ॥2- 46॥ |
यावान yavan (m. nom. sg.), = as much, so much.; अर्थ arthas (m. nom. sg.), = use, object, aim, value.; उदपाने udapane (m. loco sg.), = in a well.; सर्वतः sarvatah, (adv.), = on all sides, everywhere.; संप्लुत sampluta (p. pass. participle sam *plu), = over flowing.; उदक udake (n. loco sg.), = in water, with water. (संप्लुतोदके saṃplutodake, n. loco sg. KD cpd., = overflowing with water.); तावान tavan (m. nom. sg.), = so much.; सर्वेषु sarvesu (m. loco pl.), = in all.; वेदेषु vedesu (m. loco pl.), = in the Vedas.; ब्राह्मणस्य brāhmaṇasya (m. gen. sg.), = of the brahman,for the brahman.; विजानतः vijanatah (m. gen. sg. pr. participle vi .*jna),= knowing, wise. |
When one gets a completely filled reservoir of water, he does not go to the
smaller reservoirs. Similarly, when one receives enlightenment, then that
person finds no reason to have Vedas for pleasure. ||2-46||
