| Bhagavadgíta,-अष्टमोऽध्यायः । अक्षरब्रह्मयोगः , (S.-1, Ch.-8, V.-28) |
वेदेषु यज्ञेषु तपःसु चैव दानेषु यत्पुण्यफलं प्रदिष्टम् ।अत्येति तत्सर्वमिदं विदित्वा योगी परं स्थानमुपैति चाद्यम् ॥ ८-२८॥ |
vedeṣu yajñeṣu tapaḥsu caiva dāneṣu yatpuṇyaphalaṃ pradiṣṭam ।atyeti tatsarvamidaṃ viditvā yogī paraṃ sthānamupaiti cādyam ॥ 8-28॥ |
vedesu (m. loco pl.), in the Vedas. yajñeṣu (m. loco pl.), in sacrifices. tapalhsu (m. loco pl.), in austerities. ca, and. eva, indeed (used as a rhythmic filler). dāneṣu (n. loco pl.), in gifts, in charities. yad (n. acc. sg.), which. puṇya (n.), pure, sacred. phalam (n. acc. sg.), fruit. (punya-phalam, n. acc. sg. KD cpd., pure fruit.) pradiṣṭam (am (n. acc. sg. p. pass. participle pra.Jdis), ordained, commanded, prescribed. atyeti (3rd sg. pro indic. act. ati :ji), he goes beyond, he transcends. tad (n. acc. sg.), this, that. sarvam idam (n. acc. sg.), all this. viditvā (gerund .Jvid) , knowing, having known. yogī (m. nom. sg.), yogin. param (n. acc. sg.), to the highest, the su-preme. sthanam (n. acc. sg.), state, place, abode, station. upaiti (3rd sg. act. upa .J i), he goes, he at-tains. ca, and. adyam (n. acc. sg.), primal, ancient, original, being at the beginning. |
The yogi who knows this secret of philosophy undoubtedly ignores the
results of virtue gained by studying the Vedas, performing sacrifices,
austerities, giving alms, or charities etc., and certainly attains the Supreme,
eternal Abode. ||8-28||
