यः सर्वत्रानभिस्नेहस्तत्तत्प्राप्य शुभाशुभम् ।नाभिनन्दति न द्वेष्टि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥२- ५७॥ |
yaḥ sarvatrānabhisnehastattatprāpya śubhāśubham ।nābhinandati na dveṣṭi tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā ॥2- 57॥ |
यः ya (m. nom. sg.), = who.; सर्वत्र sarvatra, = on all sides, everywhere, In all things.; अनभिस्नेह anabhisneha (m. nom. sg. from an abhi *snih), = without affection, unimpassioned, nondesirous.; तत तद tat tad (n. nom. sg.), = this or that.; परप्य prapya (gerund pra '*ap), = encountering, obtaining, attaining, incurring.; शुभाशुभम् subhaSubham (n. acc. sg. subha asubha), = pleasant and unpleasant, pleasant or unpleasant. DV cpd.; न na. = not.; अभिनन्दति abhinandati (3rd sg. pro indic. act. abhi.*nand), = he rejoices, he salutes, he approves.; न na, = not.; द्वेष्टि dvesti (3rd sg. pr. indic. act. *dvis), = he dislikes, he hates.; तस्य tasya (gen. sg.), = of this, of it, of him.; प्रज्ञा prajna (f. nom. sg.), = wisdom, understanding, knowledge, discrimination, judgement.; प्रतिष्ठिता pratisthita (f. nom. sg. p. pass. participle), = standing firm, established. |
A person who is unattached everywhere, who is neither happy on obtaining
good nor hates on obtaining bad is said to be stable in mind. ||2-57||
