| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ, (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-11) |
कायेन मनसा बुद्ध्या केवलैरिन्द्रियैरपि ।योगिनः कर्म कुर्वन्ति सङ्गं त्यक्त्वात्मशुद्धये ॥ ५-११॥ |
kāyena manasā buddhyā kevalairindriyairapi । yoginaḥ karma kurvanti saṅgaṃ tyaktvātmaśuddhaye ॥ 5-11॥ |
कायेन = kāyena (m. inst. sg.), by the body, with the body.; मनसा = manasa (n. inst. sg.), by the mind, with the mind.; बुद्ध्या = buddhya (f. inst. sg.), by the intelligence, with the intelligence.; केवलै = kevalai (m. inst. pl.), merely, solely, alone, wholly.; इन्द्रियै = ndriyai (m. inst. pl.), by the senses, with the senses.; अपि= api, even, also.; योगिनः = yoginas (m. nom. pl.), yogins.; कर्म = karma (n. acc. sg.), action.; कुर्वन्ति = kurvanti (3rd pI. pr. indic. act. * kr), they perform, they do, they make.; सङ्गं = saṅgaṃ (m. acc. sg.), attachment, clinging.; त्यक्त्व = tyaktva (gerund *tyaj), abandoning, having abandoned.; आत्मा = atma (m.), self, own.; शुद्धये = śuddhaye (f. dat. sg.), to purification, toward purification. (atma-suddhaye, f. dat. sg. TP cp., for self purification. ) |
A yogi forsakes desires even by the senses, mind, intellect, and body and performs action for the purification of the self. ||5-11||
