| Bhagavadgíta,-संन्यासयोगः saṃnyāsayogaḥ , (S.-1, Ch.-5, V.-9) |
प्रलपन्विसृजन्गृह्णन्नुन्मिषन्निमिषन्नपि । इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेषु वर्तन्त इति धारयन् ॥ ५-९॥ |
pralapanvisṛjangṛhṇannunmiṣannimiṣannapi । indriyāṇīndriyārtheṣu vartanta iti dhārayan ॥ 5-9॥ |
प्रलपन = praIapan talking, chattering, addressing. विसृजन = visr:jan eliminating, evacuating the bowels. न्गृह्णन्नु = gr:hnan grasping, laying hold of. उन्मिष = unmisan opening the eyes. निमिषन्न nimiṣan shutting the eyes. अपि api, also, even. इन्द्रिया indriya (n. nom. pl.), senses, powers. न्द्रियार्थेषु indriya-arth-hetu in the sense ob- jects, in the objects of the senses. वर्तन्त vartanta they abide, they dwell, they work, they tum. इति iti, thus (often used to close a quotation). धारयन् dhārayan |
One who knows the philosophy of God, such a yogi, although is seeing, listening, touching, smelling, eating, walking, sleeping, breathing, talking, discarding, accepting, and even though opening his eyes and closing them, thinks that the senses are acting accordingly and undoubtedly knows that he is not doing anything. ||5-8,9|
