2.nidānasthānam २. निदानस्थानम् ,-1.vātavyādhinidānam १. वातव्याधिनिदानम् , (S.-2, Ch.-1, V.-5-8)

तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा प्राब्रवीद्भिषजां वरः |स्वयम्भूरेष भगवान् वायुरित्यभिशब्दितः ||५|| स्वातन्त्र्यान्नित्यभावाच्च सर्वगत्वात्तथैव च |सर्वेषामेव सर्वात्मा सर्वलोकनमस्कृतः ||६|| स्थित्युत्पत्तिविनाशेषु भूतानामेष कारणम् | अव्यक्तो व्यक्तकर्मा च रूक्षः शीतो लघुः खरः ||७|| तिर्यग्गो द्विगुणश्चैव रजोबहुल एव च |अचिन्त्यवीर्यो दोषाणां नेता रोगसमूहराट् ||८|| आशुकारी मुहुश्चारी पक्वाधानगुदालयः |९|

tasya tadvacanaṁ śrutvā prābravīdbhiṣajāṁ [1] varaḥ | svayambhūrēṣa bhagavān vāyurityabhiśabditaḥ ||5|| svātantryānnityabhāvācca sarvagatvāttathaiva ca | sarvēṣāmēva sarvātmā sarvalōkanamaskr̥taḥ ||6|| 1. ‘jagāda bhagavānr̥ṣiḥ’ iti tāḍapatrapustakē pāṭhaḥ| sthityutpattivināśēṣu bhūtānāmēṣa kāraṇam | avyaktō vyaktakarmā ca rūkṣaḥ [2] śītō laghuḥ kharaḥ ||7|| 2. ‘śītō rūkṣō laghuścaraḥ(laḥ)’ iti tāḍapatrapustakē pāṭhaḥ| tiryaggō dviguṇaścaiva rajōbahula ēva ca | acintyavīryō dōṣāṇāṁ nētā rōgasamūharāṭ ||8|| āśukārī muhuścārī pakvādhānagudālayaḥ |9|

तस्य tasya = his तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा tadvacanaṁ śrutvā = having listened to प्राब्रवीद्भिषजां वरः prābravīdbhiṣajāṁ varaḥ = greatest of all healers replied स्वयम्भूरेष भगवान् svayambhūrēṣa bhagavān = Divine / God (Vayu) is self generated (self-begotten) वायुरित्यभिशब्दितः vāyurityabhiśabditaḥ = Vayu is regarded as identical स्वातन्त्र्यान्नित्यभावाच्च svātantryānnityabhāvācca = free and unconditional सर्वगत्वात्तथैव च sarvagatvāttathaiva ca = all pervading (goes everywhere / presence is universal) सर्वेषामेव सर्वात्मा sarvēṣāmēva sarvātmā = soul / primary factor / root of everything (in universe) सर्वलोकनमस्कृतः sarvalōkanamaskr̥taḥ = worshipped by everyone स्थिति sthiti = sustenance or growth उत्पत्ति utpatti = origin विनाशेषु vināśēṣu = end or disintegration भूतानाम् bhūtānām = (all) organisms एष कारणम् ēṣa kāraṇam = (Vayu) is the reason अव्यक्तो avyaktō = imperceptible व्यक्तकर्मा च vyaktakarmā ca = and has (visible) manifestations (due to its actions) रूक्षः rūkṣaḥ = Dry शीतो śītō = Cold लघुः laghuḥ = Light खरः kharaḥ = Rough तिर्यग्गो tiryaggō = follows oblique course द्विगुणश्चैव dviguṇaścaiva = with two Gunas (two characters of Sound and Touch) रजोबहुल एव च rajōbahula ēva ca = and predominance of "Rajas" अचिन्त्यवीर्यो acintyavīryō = inconceivable दोषाणां dōṣāṇāṁ = Doshas' (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) नेता nētā = leader रोगसमूहराट् rōgasamūharāṭ = king of groups of diseases आशुकारी āśukārī = instantaneous मुहुश्चारी muhuścārī = frequently moving पक्वाधानगुदालयः pakvādhānagudālayaḥ = situated (located) in Pakvasaya (Large intestine) and Guda (Rectum)

Vatavyadhi - Vata problem

The holy Dhanvantari, the greatest of all healers, having listened to the foregoing words of Sushruta, replied as follows: — This vital Vayu, which courses through the body, is self-originated, and is regarded as identical with the divine energy of eternal life (God), It is as much as unconditional and absolute in its actions and effects, eternal and self-origin, and is subtle and all-pervading (like the space and atoms). It is the primary factor, which determines the principle of cause and effect in all forms of created things, whether mobile or immobile. It is so called (Vayu) from the fact of its coursing (sanskrit, Va — to move) throughout the universe. It determines the growth, origin and disintegration of all animated organisms, and as such, it receives the homage of all created beings. Although invisible in itself, yet its works are patent or manifest. It is cold, light, mobile, dry and piercing, and follows a transverse course. It is characterized by the two attributes (or Gunas) of sound and touch. It abounds in the fundamental quality of Rajas (principle of cohesion and action), is of inconceivable prowess, propels all the deranged or obstructing principles (Doshas) in the organism, (or in other words, is primarily concerned with the deranged principles of the body which are pathogenic in their actions). It is instantaneous in its action, and radiates or courses through the organism in constant currents. It has its primary field of action in the intestinal tract (G.I.) and the rectum (Guda). In Its deranged state, it is the principal factor, which, (In combination with the deranged Pitta and Kapha), lies at the root of all diseases, and Is accordingly termed the king of diseases (Rogarat).
