धन्वन्तरिं धर्मभृतां वरिष्ठममृतोद्भवम् | चरणावुपसङ्गृह्य सुश्रुतः परिपृच्छति ||३|| वायोः प्रकृतिभूतस्य व्यापन्नस्य च कोपनैः | स्थानं कर्म च रोगांश्च वद मे वदतां वर ||४|| |
| dhanvantariṁ dharmabhr̥tāṁ variṣṭhamamr̥tōdbhavam | caraṇāvupasaṅgr̥hya suśrutaḥ paripr̥cchati ||3|| vāyōḥ prakr̥tibhūtasya vyāpannasya ca kōpanaiḥ | sthānaṁ karma ca rōgāṁśca vada mē vadatāṁ vara ||4|| |
| wwt धन्वन्तरिं dhanvantariṁ = Dhanvntari धर्मभृतां वरिष्ठम् dharmabhr̥tāṁ variṣṭham = foremost of all knowers of truth (Dharma) अमृतोद्भवम् amr̥tōdbhavam = Carrying Amruta (elixir of immortality) चरणावुपसङ्गृह्य caraṇāvupasaṅgr̥hya = clasping feet सुश्रुतः suśrutaḥ = Sushruta परिपृच्छति paripr̥cchati = asks वायोः vāyōḥ = Vata dosha प्रकृतिभूतस्य prakr̥tibhūtasya = normal condition व्यापन्नस्य च vyāpannasya ca = and abnormal / agitated condition कोपनैः kōpanaiḥ = deranged स्थानं sthānaṁ = location कर्म च karma ca = and function रोगांश्च rōgāṁśca = diseases वद मे vada mē = instruct me वदतां वर vadatāṁ vara = greatest of discoursers |

Having clasped the feet of the holy Dhanvantari, who had arisen out elixir, Sushruta asked him, "Tell me,O thou, all about the different locations and functions of the bodily Vayu, both in its normal and agitated conditions, (as well as when it changes its natural seat through a concourse of disturbing or aggravating causes. Explain me, what are the are consequences of its deranged Vayu. |
